A lot of websites, like the actual networks, will offer full movies, and episodes of Tv series. This is great, because there is a program out there that copies those movies and episodes directly to your computer. Stream Transport is a program that allows the user to copy content from sites like Hulu, Tv.com, and You -Tube (to name a few). It will copy nearly any type of file. You-Tube now has a section on Movies. However, copying videos like fandom films that other people have created, to get your clips is a big no-no. Vidders on Vimeo, Vidders.net and You-Tube, all have superb fandom films, But they are films that took them alot of time to create, and find the clips on their own, and to copy and re-clip another vidders video, is called Clip Theft. Bottom line, is Don't do it. Stick to areas where you find complete films and episodes.
Another option for finding full films and tv series, is to dowload a torrent, peer to peer sharing file. These sites have confirmed that the films and content on them are downloaded by peers specifically to share with other peers. Hence the name "Peer to Peer" sharing , or P2P. These torrent files, are so easy to find, and you can find just about any movie, tv episode or program.
One of the best sites for this, is a program called Azureus Vuse. It gets content from various search torrents like Extratorrent, Kick Ass Torrents, and Mininova. There are also outside Torrent sites that you can download, like Ilivid, and PlentyofTorrents, ScrapeTorrents, NowTorrents and Bitsnoop.
It may sound confusing, but the end result, are sites that offer Peer to Peer sharing of content, they are checked for viruses, and most of them are free to use. P2P file sharing technology is completely legal, but many of the files traded through P2P are indeed copyrighted (Films and Tv Episodes ). So it is advised not to re-distribute those copyrighted files to others. Once you get the hang of searching for content, on any site, finding what you need will become a breeze, and you'll know what places are the easiest and most readily available for the content you need.
Whether you decide to rip your footage from a DVD, or download it with a program or get it from a P2P site, please be respectful of other vidders' copyrighted material. Have fun, and GO GET THAT FOOTAGE !!
