Like much of the Whedonverse, the all too brief series 'Firefly' has inspired vidders to create a swathe of entertaining and stunning fan videos from Series overviews, crack vids about knitted head gear and even statements about fandom and vidding itself.
The devoted fan has taken the very limited amount of 14 episodes and continuation film 'Serenity' and refused to let the 'verse fade away.
I've chosen three vids by the same vidder bradcpu (one is also a collaboration with Laura Shapiro) to feature here.

Working Class Hero - Firefly
bradcpuvids
Bradcpu takes the Greenday cover of a Lennon song and makes an insightful lyrical interpretation without being too literal, using the repeat of 'A working class hero is something to be' as an opportunity to illustrate different perspectives of that sentiment.
The vid is a study of Mal & River, their origin stories and lives now on Serenity, through the eyes of the crew. The cynical lyrics of heroism mirror Mal's attitude and world weariness - he's still fighting the war he lost against the alliance and River is running from them.
In this vid you will see an excellent combination of internal motion and beat editing, for example the lens flare from the very beginning and a subtle use of light engine flare at 0.12. River's section has footsteps in pace with the guitar strum and the ball bouncing in the hoop at 1.12. At 1.22 the pace of the song shifts up a gear and the use of the swift pan to River being subjected to tests by the alliance and the time toggling on the drum snare at 1.45 is masterful. There is stunning parallel of Mal pushing the man off the mule, to the toppling of Jayne's statue at 1.55 which perfectly leads into Mal and Jayne in the loading bay.

Tear You Apart - Firefly
bradcpuvids
A change of genre now with a disturbing, unsettling AU relationship vid that shows an excellent use of secondary source to help set the tone and build imagery. Clever use of close up crops, repeated clips and brief images that are almost subliminal, this is great example of how a song and clips out of context can successfully create an entirely different and believable viewpoint/story to canon.

Hard Sun - Firefly
bradcpuvids
A vid collaboration with Laura Shapiro, using original cam source from vidders and Firefly fans this is a beautiful tribute to Firefly, fandom and vidding. It perfectly illustrates how our fannish love and the vidding thought process is with us vidders as we go about our lives, listening on the iPods to our songs ideas and formulating the next vid project. The blending of original source with the Firefly/Serenity footage is amazing, use of light and then finally rainfall it evokes many emotions – nostalgia and love of our fandom through to sadness at the end where we have to deal with the end of our shows.
